Newchurch Football Club play in the parish of Newchurch on theIsle of Wight , at the NPS&CA sportsfield. The history of the club can be traced back to 1936. We run two teams, and for season 2009/10 the 1st Team will play in Division 1 of the IW Saturday League, and the 2nd Team in Combination 1 of the same league.

Newchurch is a friendly club, making players of all levels and abilities welcome. We train at the ground at
Watery Lane
on Tuesday evenings from 7.00pm .

Our history can be traced back within the parish of Newchurch over 70 years. Newchurch FC prides itself on being a friendly club first and foremost, which has been proven to be true as many players join and stay for many seasons. Full details about the club, results, fixtures etc can be found on their website, at www.newchurchfc.org.uk

There is also an associated junior section, Newchurch Colts, run by Tony Morris and Darren Abbott, that will hopefully provide players for the senior club in future years. Their web site can be found at www.newchurchcolts.co.uk

Newchurch FC is managed by John Nightingale. Popularly nicknamed 'The Gaffer' by the players, John has  played football on theIsland and in Hampshire for almost 30 years and has managed Newchurch for nearly 10years. Passionate and Committed (some say he should be committed) to local football, he has a high expectation of all his players, and doesn't like to see talent wasted by lack of effort and commitment. And he dislikes losing. “I accept being beaten by a better side on any given day, it doesn't mean I have to like it, and I expect my players to adopt a similar attitude” !

He is assisted by Ian Phipps, as Assistant Manager. ‘Phippsy’ was previously reserve team manager for a number of seasons, and secured promotion to Combination 1 in 2005/06 with a youthful side, 3 of whom played their part in winning promotion to Division 1 this season. He was unable to continue with managing the reserves due to work commitments, but his re-appointment provides a welcome addition to the management team for the coming season, helping to establish Newchurch in Division 1.

The Reserve side is managed by Derek ‘Stumpy’ Fletcher, who is himself a long serving club member, playing for the club for many seasons. Secretary and Treasurer is Mark ‘The Money’ Thomas.

Following promotion last season (2008/09), planning for this season is already underway. All of the 1st team squad that earned promotion have re-signed for next season, but 3 or 4 new players would increase competition for places.

If you like what you've read here, or heard about the Club, and think that a) You are good enough, b) Committed enough, c) Willing to work hard, and d) Happy to sign for a Club, rather than a team and earn your place in the side; contact the manager by phone or e-mail through the web site link, then via the Commitee Members / Manager link.

Newchurch FC also need a Referee's Assistant (used to be called linesman) for home and away games. Would suit retired referee or just somebody that's keen, reliable and fair (ish) ! A trained first aid person (male or female) to deal with pre match strappings, rubs, half time injuries etc would also be useful.
